The snow is finally gone. Clarendon is beckoning. Liberty Tavern sounds perfect, doesn't it?

We love our community. Something that we really love is when people in the community foster that. Take the fine folks who own and operate Liberty Tavern, Lyon Hall and Northside Social. Awesome. People just want to be there, right? Right. Count us in. Also, count us in for hanging out with the radiant Ellen Vaughan of the Environmental and Energy Study Institute (EESI) who wants to share some goods on smart growth with us.

About the venue:

Liberty Tavern is an American Cuisine and fine dining establishment in Clarendon. They are locally owned and operated and celebrated for locally sourcing foods.

Head on down to Shirlington for fun with ACE!

Ah, the sparkling lights and sounds of the new urbanism that is Shirlington. We love it. Spring time (which is official on the 21st- thank goodness) makes the cafe's and Piazzas of this urban village come even that much more alive! That is why we have teamed up with ACE for a Spring update and the one of our favorite restaurants on the strip, Samuel Beckett's for a sweet Spring happy hour to liven Green Drinks Arlington up for the season!Samuel Becketts Irish Gastro Pub Logo

About the Speaker: Arlingtonians for a Clean Environment (ACE) promotes stewardship of our natural resources and practical solutions to a sustainable lifestyle in order to protect water, air, and open spaces in the Arlington community. We will have The ACE program coordinator, Kari Kramer, come on down to share with us what awesome events and programs ACE has up their sleeve for the coming months!

About the Venue: "As you look through our menu you may think “this is not the Irish food that I am used to seeing” Our menu is a collaboration of items from old Ireland to modern Ireland. We are trying to present to you an example of what we loved to eat growing up in Ireland and what is now popular from some of our favorite haunts back home. We promise to offer you the freshest produce, and source as much as we can from local suppliers. We have a mixture of staff from local talent, to staff that we have brought over from Ireland. We would like you to think of us as your stepping stone to Ireland. Our ambassadors will try and answer all your questions on Ireland while serving you great comfort food and premium drinks in a warm environment. So why Samuel Beckett’s you might ask? I was trying to find some connection locally when thinking of a name for the pub. While walking down Campbell Street it was there staring me in the face. The theatre was my link. Shirlington village is very much an artistic neighborhood, and signature theatre is one of the best in the country. Signature theatre actually has actually performed several of Beckett’s plays."

Her wine bar is reminiscent of a 1940's French Bistro with espresso stained woods and sultry leather stamped walls. Over Forty wines are available to sample, the cheese and charcuterie are definitely a full thought of this beautiful and inviting space. Start your year out with some resolution building, check out the Organics Section at Whole Foods UPSTAIRS PUB- Organic beer, wine and coffee that is!

They say that one great way to reach a getting healthy goal is to add "eat organic" to your list of healthy eating guidelines... well, "they" probably didn't mean to hit the sauce, but hey! Who says you can't have a little fun while enjoying your organics, too?! Come out and play this January with the Clarendon Whole Foods Pub's team and Green Drinks Arlington while we find out more about the Arlington Initiation to Reduce Emission's upcoming Energy Game of Life- the Energy Journey with Kelly Zonderwyk.

A bit about our guest speaker:

Kelly Zonderwyk is an Energy Program Specialist with Arlington County's Arlington Initiative to Reduce Emissions or AIRE program. Her latest community project is a fun, family event called the Energy Journey designed as an interactive, life size board game to better help people understand how everyday actions impact the environment. She will discuss the event, a role for volunteers and participants. We can't wait to hear more about AIRE's upcoming event with Kelly!

About the venue:

Whole Foods Clarendon opened up its new Organics Pub upstairs back in September of 2012, and has been allowing patrons to enjoy a pint, a glass or a cup of their "pleasure" while strolling through the store. The Austin based company has a very happening flagship program of this pub and restaurant concept that is awesome. I'm not just saying that because I'm biased being a native Austinite, but because it just makes shopping that much more enjoyable- plus it is thriving in each of their stores where they have opened a pub! High quality Organic coffees, wines and beers are selected by the knowledgeable team and then sold in a friendly, fun atmosphere that can be enjoyed throughout the store. High-Five Whole Foods Clarendon's Jackie Zovko for working so hard to bring this Pub concept to their Arlington location!

Thank you all so much for making Art+Pints another fabulous success! We were able to raise a significant amount of awareness for the Arlington Food Assistance Center. Of course, the donations were important, too! We brought them over 121 pounds of food and the monetary donations were $575 that we were able to contribute to AFAC this year. Let's make next year even bigger and better! Kudos to the artists, DJ WalzStreet, P. Brennan's, and everyone who made the event happen. See you all soon!

Get excited and SAVE THE DATE for a wonderful holiday event that will inspire you to think about LOCAL and free-trade ARTISTS and bring together COMMUNITY at a fun, laid back gallery opening.
